About the Artistic Director:

Josette Weibrecht was the founder, owner and artistic director of “a Tucson dance company” (TDC) from 1990 until 2010. From 2006 through 2012, she was a director and principal instructor and director for the Moscow Ballet’s Children's Ensemble and, from 2012 through 2015, taught pro bono at Danser Studio. From 2013 through 2016, she choreographed children's' routines for performances at local philanthropic events, and competitions.  When students continued to return, she decided to revive the company name in 2017.

Josette has garnered regional and national recognition and numerous awards for her choreography, but takes most pride in the lifelong friendships her students have developed while part of the TDC family. You can see some of her prior students at the Facebook page: "a Tucson dance company team Alumni."

Josette attended the University of Arizona where she obtained her Bachelor’s in Molecular and Cellular Biology, while taking courses towards a Dance Minor. Throughout her dance career, she studied with many internationally-acclaimed dance masters. During her high school and college years she appeared in film, commercials, runway, and sang and danced in several musicals with the Southern Arizona Light Opera Company, including “My Fair Lady,” “Annie Get Your Gun,” and more. While completing her M.D. at the University of Arizona Medical School, Josette continued to grow TDC by introducing more musical theatre, acting, voice and fitness to TDC’s schedule. After a brief break from TDC, she has gone back to her love and passion of teaching and choreographing for children and teens, and re-opened this fabulous company. She looks forward to meeting the children and families that will become part of TDC.
